Passing the Torch
October 2025

The Benkendorf family is large, and for the past 100 years, the farm has always been operated by family members. As age creeps up on one generation, the next moves up. Jayne, my wife, and I have reached that time when we need to Pass the Torch on to the next generation.

BF Farms is strong beyond Doug & Jayne. Kamie, our daughter & Ephraim, our grandson both have been producing the beeves & lambs we all have been eating for many years. This will continue. A year or so ago, our grandson Mitchel & his wife, Crystal & family have moved to the farm. Both show great promise in providing stability in the future for BF Farms.

Now what about Doug & Jayne? Are they going to be turned out to pasture? Ha! At 87 & 85 years of age, we’ll probably slow down a bit, but we’re not through! We both have a passion to expose a lot of the stuff called food – in grocery stores as well as out on the farms of America. Jayne has over 50 years of contributing nutrition information. This knowledge can’t go to waste!

Earlier in BF Farms’ history, a policy was established which basically said, “our customers come first”. Two family members, Jayne & Thomas, our granddaughter Tara’s husband, have been servicing BF Farms’ customers. As a testimonial to the work they’ve done, a good portion of new customers come from referrals. Thomas will now be assuming a larger role. For those of you who haven’t met Thomas, I assure you that you will like him!

Nothing will change to order beef- via the website at bf-farms.com and by directly contacting either Thomas, 405-821-6548 or Jayne, 405-202-3495.

In closing, I just want to say that it has been a true joy to see BF Farms grow the way it has, providing a healthy alternative to what is offered commercially.

Always remember, “Don’t squat with your spurs on!”

Doug
